 The San Mateo County Dental Society (SMCDS) is the local arm of a three-tiered organization, comprised of the American Dental Association (ADA) at the national level and the California Dental Society (CDA) at the state level. Benefits SMCDS Membership can bring you include

Continuing Education.  Keep current on OSHA regulations, practice management, CA practice law, infection control, managed care and DBOC-required courses through our monthly CE programs, study clubs, and CPR re-certification.

Community Introduction / Patient Referrals Broaden your patient base by tapping into SMCDS’ excellent patient referral service; i.e., referrals to members when patients call our office or access our Find a Dentist feature on the SMCDS website. Take advantage of opportunities to introduce yourself to the community by speaking at local functions sponsored in conjunction with SMCDS community outreach activities.

Peer Review.  Resolve dentist / patient disputes concerning quality and/or appropriateness of dental care via the Peer Review process at no expense to either party, often avoiding costly litigation. The SMCDS Peer Review Committee is staffed by member dentists working in cooperation with and under guidelines set by CDA.

Social / Networking Events.  Become acquainted with and cultivate lasting relationships with SMCDS colleagues at social events hosted throughout the year: Winter Ski Seminar, Giants baseball games, Family Picnic Fun ‘n Games, Annual Gala & Fundraiser …and the ever-popular social hour at our monthly General Membership meetings.

Professional Publications.  Stay informed via SMCDS multi-media communication:  urgent, rapidly changing news via Member eNews email and fax; in-depth coverage of non-urgent issues via our bi-monthly newsletter, The Mouthpiece, which provides updates on local activities, changing legislation and environmental issues, feature articles on issues relevant to your practice, and classified ads. Easily identify and locate member colleagues with the SMCDS Member Directory updated bi-annually in hardcopy and maintained weekly online.

Professional Development / Assistance.  From speakers targeting New Professionals to our library of video and printed materials on topics encompassing the dental industry and practice development to support for chemical abuse via our Bay Area Well-Being Committee.

Reduced Cost Seminar Room Rentals.  The SMCDS seminar room occupies 1100 square feet in a beautiful RedwoodShores complex.  We are conveniently located near Hwy 101, with plenty of free parking onsite and restaurants nearby.  LCD projector and high definition screen, white board, etc also available.  Seats 30 classroom style, 50 theatre-style.  Cheaper than most hotels or conference centers, SMCDS seminar room rentals range from $75/hour to $350 for a full day.  Members receive a 20% discount.
