Dr. McNeill’s emphasis will be on the American Academy of Orofacial Pain's classification of temporomandibular disorders (TMD).
Participants will be able to meet the following objectives: ♦Have an orthopedic rationale in order to effectively diagnose and manage the most common acute articular disorders ♦Have an orthopedic rationale in order to effectively diagnose and manage the most common acute masticatory muscle disorders ♦Understand ascending and descending trigeminal sensory pain pathways and their affect on management of the more complex chronic TMD and orofacial pain patients ♦Understand clinical ramifications of the amplification of pain in the sensory peripheral and central nervous systems
Charles McNeill, DDS Professor Emeritus and Director of the UCSF Center for Orofacial Pain - is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain, Fellow of the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. Dr. McNeill is a member of the OKU Dental Honor Society, an Honorary member of the American Academy of Oral Medicine, a member and former President of both the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and American Academy of Orofacial Pain, as well as past-editor of the Journal of Orofacial Pain. Chuck has authored many articles, abstracts and book chapters, edited four books, and lectured extensively on the subjects of TMD, orofacial pain, and occlusion.
