As of Jan. 1, 2019, the California employers with 5 or more employees (located anywhere) must provide sexual harassment prevention training to all employees before Jan. 1, 2021. This includes 2 hours of training to supervisors and 1 hour to non-supervisory employees. Renewal training will then be required every two years. Have questions? Two specific types of trainings are available:
1. Supervisor Positions (2-hour course)
SUPERVISOR DEFINITION: A supervisor is anyone with authority to hire, fire, assign, transfer, discipline, or reward other employees. A supervisor is also anyone with the authority to effectively recommend (but not necessarily take) these actions if exercising that authority requires the use of independent judgment.

Submit proof of course completion to SMCDS to receive the CE Units and HR Resources. Remember to indicate if you have 5 or more employees to receive the appropriate policy for your practice. If you took the 6/28/19 live training with SMCDS or a live/online course elsewhere, provide proof of course completion to receive the HR Resources.
Note: The California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) takes the position that employees, including supervisors, who were trained in 2018 or before, will need to be retrained again prior to Jan 1, 2021. Additionally, training of non-supervisory employees in California must take place within 6 months of hire or promotion and every 2 years thereafter.
