CONTINUING EDUCATION
1.5 CE Units (Core)
Understand and apply principles of dental workspaces, tasks, and equipment to fit our abilities and limitations. We will explore proper body positioning and movements, dental office workflow and the importance of equipment design. You will learn to recognize ergonomic hazards, apply control methods, and design preventative solutions for you and your team’s health.
Learning Objectives
- Reduce dental caused injuries, boost productivity and prolong an active lifestyle. You will be able to identify musculoskeletal risks and how equipment and office design can lead to a successful career and community builder.
- Principles of Ergonomics: The fundamental science of body movement in the dental office.
- Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs): Understanding the causes, symptoms, and prevention of injuries from repetitive motion, forceful exertions, and awkward postures.
- Human Factors: Applying knowledge of human physiology, anthropometry (body measurements), and psychological factors to design.
- Risk Assessment: Learning to identify, evaluate, and control ergonomic risks.
- Equipment and Instrument Use: Proper selection and use of instruments and equipment controls to minimize physical stress.
- Office Design: How and why the equipment and workflow can impact
your long term health and reduce physical pain caused by repetitive motions
required for dentistry.
